Reconditioned Stannah Curved Stairlift Installation
We have a straight stairlift customer here in Leicester. They had a Stannah 420 straight Stairlift with a double swivel seat. This was installed previously by another company, some years ago. It was before we were contacted about doing a stairlift service and carrying out any future stairlift maintenance on it.
Recently the stairlift developed a serious motor fault. Our stairlift engineer replaced the carriage as this was the cheapest option, gave it a full service and that was that. The customers son spoke to us later on to say he was concerned for his parents deteriorating health. He expressed his interest in a reconditioned Stannah curved stairlift rather than a straight stairlift. This meant that the current need to swivel the seat at the top and bottom of the stairs was removed. They could simply step on and off the Stannah curved chair lift at each end.
This made perfect sense. The hallway design meant that there was a wall directly in front of the lift at the bottom. With a short bottom over-run the stairlift would start or stop directly in front of the lounge doorway.
We measured up and recommended a reconditioned Stannah curved stairlift but with a straight rail design. This is often referred to as a swan-neck configuration. It would have a bottom over-run of a metre before climbing the stairs. Then it would travel up and over on to the top landing for a short half metre or 500mm over-run.
We had the solution…
Although there were no helical bends which go left or right, the vertical bends still make this a curved stairlift design. We removed the existing Stannah straight stairlift and installed a reconditioned Stannah curved stairlift in Leicester. It had a Sofia seat in mint condition on a swan-neck configuration rail and it fitted perfectly. The user was able to just step on and off now without having to turn the Stannah chair lift seat. This made it a lot easier for her.
