What Type Of Stairlift Do I Have?

Using the form below you can tell us more information about your stairlift which helps us to make a more informed decision as to whether it is of interest to us or not.

The following images help explain how to find the requested information and how to identify any auxiliary options it may have fitted.

What is the model of my Brooks Acorn stairlift?

The model number on a Brooks Acorn stairlift helps us to identify the age of the stairlift. The model number is usually printed on a label fixed to the motor carriage cover. On earlier models it was directly under the seat post, above the key switch. On later models this was relocated to the lower side of the motor cover as indicated in the picture. This label also shows the serial number which normally has twelve numbers and a letter at the end.

What is the make of my stairlift?

The make of your stairlift is important because some are more desirable than others. This can have an impact on the value of the stairlift as certain manufacturers parts are considerably more expensive than others. You can usually find the manufacturers name on a sticker underneath the arm along with a phone number. The operating key may also have a key ring supplied with the name on it. The Brooks Acorn stairlift has a large logo moulded into the surface of the footrest. This can be seen when the footrest is folded up as in the picture.

What is meant by auxiliary equipment?

All stairlift manufacturers offer a list of optional extras for their equipment to make life easier for the user. These options aren’t always required and can reduce the value of used stairlifts. The least desirable option is a folding hinged rail. These are beneficial to prevent tripping hazzards when installed with a doorway across the bottom of the stairs. However, modern staircases rarely require this option and a new replacement rail is required to enable the stairlift to be reloacted correctly. Motorised powered swivel seats and linked footrests are also certain salesmen’s favourites but rarely needed.
